Charmaine Lyn

I take a liberatory and anti-colonial approach to coaching organizational leaders. My practice draws on my professional training and over twenty years of experience as a racialized woman leading equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, and decolonization change work in post-secondary and non-profit sectors.

Of Chinese ancestry, I was born in Jamaica and immigrated with my family to Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), where I grew up. I’m a first-generation university attendee with B.A., Civil Law, and Common Law degrees from McGill University. I also hold a Professional and Personal Coach Certification from the John Molson Executive Centre at Concordia University’s School of Business. I live and work with my husband and two kids on the unceded territory of the Wabanaki (Dawnland) Confederacy.

Coaching that’s attuned to you and your context

Acorn’s approach is rooted in the premises that you have within you everything you need to effect change - and - you’re working within powerful systems that resist the change you’re working toward.

What People Are Saying

  • I was able to learn how to slow down, assess what mattered to me, and begin taking tangible steps towards making the decisions that felt best for me.

    — Kennedy (social impact leader)

  • Working with someone who has experienced similar challenges and is also a racialized woman meant I didn't have to acquaint her with my situation. It's enabled me to continue on in my role, learn how to take the burden off myself and channel it into the responsibility of the organization.”

    — Rekha (non-profit leader)

  • Charmaine coached me during a very challenging time in my career. One of Charmaine’s many skills is her ability to illuminate core issues and guide you through a thought process towards action. I felt supported and seen.

    — Jennifer (post-secondary leader)
